New York City False Claims Act

New York City False Claims Act

The New York City False Claims Act allows employees to bring suit in the City of New York's name based on fraudulent conduct that affects local government. The statute addresses a wide array of wrongdoing. An employee who is retaliated against for bringing such a claim is entitled to double backpay. Like the federal qui tam statute, stringent procedural requirements apply in order to establish a viable claim under the Act.
