When treated unfairly, many New York residents may wonder how to handle such a situation. One man in another state recently decided to take such action after being discriminated against in the workplace. Reports stated that he works at a mental hospital and is originally from Jamaica. During the course of his employment, the man and other black employees were given tasks that posed higher risks for physical violence than white co-workers. Additionally, at least one white colleague made a statement about hating black people.
The report also stated that reports were made to supervisors regarding the comments, but the reports did not result in any action being taken. As a result, a lawsuit was filed against the state and two other employees at the mental hospital. The man is reportedly seeking $25,000 in compensation for mental anguish and emotional distress resulting from the mistreatment.
Many individuals work hard to carry out their necessary work-related tasks, but when the tasks are assigned unfairly and based on employment discrimination, it can be difficult to feel motivated to handle those duties.
