Former employee accuses celeb chef of sexual harassment

Working in a hostile environment can have many negative effects on employees. In some cases, individuals may face physical and emotional harm, and when workers face sexual harassment, they may even end up leaving their jobs or being fired for refusing to put up with the behaviors. Overall, work environments with these conditions should not be condoned.

New York readers may be interested in one out-of-state woman who recently filed a lawsuit against her former employers due to facing sexual harassment on the job. Reports stated that she had worked for chef Mike Isabella, who appeared on shows like “Top Chef” and runs multiple restaurants. The woman had reached the highest point a female employee had reached within the chef’s organization, and during her time of employment, she claims to have faced a number of harassing incidents.

She stated that Isabella himself would act as if he were performing vulgar acts on her and that the work environment fostered contempt for women. The woman also claimed that Isabella suggested that another chef should have sexual intercourse with her, and that statement caused her to leave the restaurant. Isabella then fired the woman for attempting to leave. The chef’s legal representation made a statement denying the woman’s allegations.

It can be difficult to know the right steps to take when faced with sexual harassment on the job. Many people may want to put up with the misconduct for as long as possible in hopes of keeping their jobs, but the fact of the matter is that any workplace harassment should not be tolerated. If New York workers are having to deal with such hostile environments, they may want to consider their legal options.
